Animated watch screen created for our lovable Capitalist Pig character

We wanted to understand the in's and out's of developing for the newly emerging watch screen market and needed a subject to have for our focus.
We have plenty of character ideas we've played around with and ‘Capitalist Pig’ fit the bill for this cute set of animations.
The watch face is designed to trigger different animations depending on the time of day the user views it.
We decided to go for 3 animations in the end for use at different times, one for eating to trigger around 8.30 AM, 1 PM and 7 PM, a working animation to display inbetween those times and a sleeping animation for the very end of the day.
As well entertaining, the watch clearly need to show the user all the usfeul information including the time (!), date and even the temperature outside.

As technology evolves it often takes a step backward and this is certainly true with watch faces. With file size restrictions, a limited resolution and the need to cater for day and night display's, design layouts and making animations for the watch threw up some challenges for development that we enjoyed overcoming.
