Getting cat's to jump on demand is as hard as you think

Our brief from We Are MBC was to create three CGI cat images which are indistinguishable from photographs.
With over 900 potentially usable images (apart from the ideal shot of the cat jumping in each case) we undertook high-end retouching to reconstruct the ideal shot using all the available body parts in Photoshop, mapped against a 2D reference image of a cat in the jumping pose.
As well as getting the perfect pose for the final shots we also needed to refine the felines - widening eyes, puffing up paws and removing collars from the images.
